HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - More than 150 children participated in service projects throughout the Hampton community on Monday for Bethel Christian School's third annual Serve-A-Thon.
Bethel's preeschoolers made handprints on greeting cards for U.S. troops overseas and older children visited the Sunrise House assisted living facility, in addition to four other retirement homes.
A news release from Bethel Christian said the students also sorted and packed items for the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula and helped clean up the grounds of a nearby church.
The day of service was part of a two month long fundraiser which has garnered more than $13,000 in donations, the release said.
