CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A Chesapeake home suffered extensive damage after an early morning fire Friday.
Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said the fire sparked just before 1:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Mouth Pleasant Road. When crews arrived on scene, they found a one-story home with fire showing from the garage.
It took about an hour for crews to get the fire under control.
According to Saunders, two adults were displaced by the fire and were able to escape the home after being alerted by the smoke detector.
The cause remains under investigation.
