CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A veteran Chesapeake police officer's 13-year-old son accidentally fired his father's weapon.

According to Chesapeake police spokesperson Kelly O'Sullivan, the incident took place inside their home in the 800 block of Hywood Court around 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

Internal Affairs is investigating the incident.

No criminal charges have been placed against the teen.

There is no word on how the teen got the gun.
