CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A motorcycle driver lost a leg when police say an SUV hit him in Chesapeake.
The accident occurred at 6:36 a.m. in the 400 block of Mount Pleasant Road near the Northbound 168 Bypass on-ramp, according to Sarah Peedin with the Chesapeake Police Department.
Peedin said the SUV driver was turning left from Mount Pleasant Road onto the 168 Bypass, did not see the motorcyclist, and struck the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by Nightingale as an amputee. He may be suffering from other injuries as well.
Police said the SUV driver is at fault, and charges are pending.
