CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A scholarship was established in the name of a Grassfield High School athletic trainer who passed away Wednesday.
Anne Elizabeth McKim passed away Wednesday night, a spokesperson with Chesapeake Public Schools said.
Grassfield held a moment of silence for her Thursday morning and another moment of silence at a basketball game Friday night.
"She was always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, a smile, a word of encouragement. She was just incredible," said Grassfield High School Principal Carolyn Bernard.
There were counselors available at the school for any students that needed it.
She died after spending a week in intensive care. There is still no word on her exact cause of death.
The school established a scholarship in her name called the "Anne Elizabeth McKim Scholarship."
