CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Support continues to pour in for victims of the Navy jet crash.
The general manager of The Broken Egg in Chesapeake decided to give back after almost losing his home in a fire that happened a week after the jet crash.
Doug Stumpf's home came dangerously close to becoming the sixth home taken in a fire that damaged five others on Sweet Leaf Drive.
Tuesday night, he held a fundraiser for the residents of Mayfair Mews who lost everything when a F/A-18D jet crash landed into the complex.
"I know exactly what they're going through. There are times you think you know what they're going through, or how bad things are, but to be in the middle of it, it really hit close to home," Stumpf said.
