CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake firefighters battled an early morning blaze Friday in freezing temperatures.
Capt. Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the 3400 block of Cricket Hollow Lane around 5:30 a.m. Once on scene about five minutes later, firefighters found flames coming from a two-story home.
Crews had the fire under control by 6:50 a.m. No one was injured, but two adults and two children were displaced. They were able to escape the home before the fire department arrived.
The home sustained significant damage. The cause remains under investigation.
