CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake City Council unanimously decided to table the proposal of moving the South Norfolk Memorial Library into the Gateway at SoNo building.
South Norfolk Civic League President Kevin Amick said council voted 9-0 to buy the Gateway property, but they have not decided what will go into that building.
The building will be bought using general funds, and not the Tax Increment Financing money council originally considered.
Council says putting the library into the Gateway building is still an option.
Buying the building using general funds will give council 30 more days to figure out what will go into the 17,000 square foot building.
