PORSTMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Wavy.com talked to 3rd district incumbent, Democrat Bobby Scott.
Scott is serving his 9th term as a Member of Congress and Scott's history in Virginia politics, including the House of Delegates and Senate, goes back to 1978.
He made it clear during Friday's interview, that he's not just running against his Republican challenger, but the entire Republican party. He called the Republican party, the "No" party and said when it comes to the centerpiece of his campaign, jobs and the economy, he's knows the exact direction he wants to go.
"I have proposed specifics with what to do with the deficit and with jobs. Both with the record and the future. My opponent has complained about where we are but offers absolutely nothing about what we should do about it. You can't just wish and hope for jobs - you've got to do something about it. We need somebody who's going to be a leader and not just sit on the sidelines complaining," said Scott.
He's up against Republican Chuck Smith, Libertarian James Quigley, and Independent David Kelly for Virginia's 3rd Congressional district.
