Bikers freeze their knees for charity

Pajama ride benefits CHKD

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY.com) - From the bedroom to their bikes, a group of cyclists donned their pajamas for Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

The "Freeze Your Knees" charity event took riders on a 1/4 mile course at Tidewater Community College's Virginia Beach campus. Motorcyclists did the ride in cut-off pajama bottoms and boots.

The man behind it all always wanted to do something for charity and this unique event came together pretty quickly.

"I came up with the concept over Christmas holidays, by the time I pitched it to King's Daughters it was close to the 10th of January. A week later, I got authorization from Tidewater Community College to have it here, then I have five or six weeks to put it all together," said event organizer Michael Duff.

The family-friendly event included free monster truck rides, hair cuts, massages and face painting. Duff plans to do it again next year no matter what the temperature!
