VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A former youth minister and volunteer baseball coach Virginia Beach pled guilty Tuesday to one count each of sexual penetration with object and indecent liberties - custodial, according to the city attorney's office.

Dennis Ray Collins, 53, and currently a resident of Winston-Salem, N.C., was brought back to Virginia Beach for the trial, which proved that he had sexually abused a high school baseball player between 1986 and 1988.

At the time, he was a youth minister at the Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. He was sentenced to 20 years in the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Ten of those years were suspended on the condition of good behavior for 20 years, indefinite supervised probation, registration as a sex offender, no contact with the victim, and payment of all court costs.
