RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Department of Transportation road crews mobilized Friday and prepared for an anticipated weekend winter storm.
VDOT has been checking weather conditions, pre-sprayed anti-icing chemicals on bridges and roadways, and have readied personnel and equipment in case needed.
David S. Ekern, VDOT commissioner said, "We remain committed to our mission as an emergency response agency. As this year's winter weather season sets in, Virginians count on us to keep people, services and goods moving safely around the commonwealth."
VDOT and WAVY.com remind drivers to use caution when traveling in inclement weather. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.
