VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach police have charged two men in connection with two separate burglaries Monday.
Police arrested the first suspect, 39-year old Brandon Thatch, around 10:30 a.m. Monday in the 5300 block of Hitching Post Court.
According to officials, witnesses in the area say that they saw a suspect putting on gloves and checking houses and doors in an attempt to enter.
After trying several doors, the witnesses say the suspect left the area only to return an hour later.
Officers in the area stopped Thatch. Police say he was wearing gloves and had a pry bar in his waist band. They also say they found other burglary tools in his vehicle.
Thatch is charged with five counts of attempted burglary, and possession of burglary tools. He is being held without bond.
Later Monday afternoon, police arrested the second burglary suspect, Aaron Tingen, in the 1200 block of Etworth Lane around 1:00 p.m.
Officials say they received a 911 call concerning a burglary in progress. A detective who handles burglary cases in the area was on his way to the scene when he spotted the suspect.
According to police, Tingen was as a supect in a different burglary case the detective was working, and had outstanding warrants against him for failure to appear on a trespassing charge.
The detective stopped and searched Tingen, and authorities say, found property from the initial burglary call.
Police say a second suspect allegedly working with Tingen has been identified.
The home in question was previously burglarized on Nov. 20, 2009, and officials say Tingen has been charged in both the Nov. 20 and Dec. 14 indicents. He faces two counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny.
He is being held on a $35,000 secure bond.
