NORFOLK,Va - Air travel, according to some analysts, is expected to decline this holiday season. The American Automobile Association says the number of people flying next week will drop by more than six percent meaning 2.3 million people flying this Thanksgiving weekend compared to 2.5 million last year. That's still a lot of air travelers and if you are one of them, this frequent flyer has some good advice.
Knowing the rules regarding security requirements for certain carry on items can save you a lot of time and trouble at airport security check points.
"For traveling with liquids, gels and aerosols through the security check-point, they need to be three ounces or less, in a one quart zip-top bag. One baggie per traveler placed separately in a security bin. Remember, if you're traveling with a laptop to take that out of the bag as well. Also if you're traveling with your kids, any large video game consoles or R-C toys should come out as well to be screened separately," said Lauren Gaches, a TSA spokesperson.
AAA says the number of highway travelers will increase by slightly more than 2-percent this year. About 33-million people are expected to get behind the wheel over Thanksgiving weekend.
And if you plan to be one of them, you need to be prepared.
Georjeane Blumling, a AAA Spokesperson said, "It's like being a Boy Scout. You need to make sure that your vehicle is prepared, which means that if you're going to get it tuned up, now's the time to do it, over this weekend instead of waiting until the last minute."
Remember a well tuned car increases gas mileage, saving you money for the next holiday, Christmas. And wherever you go, however you get there, bring a lot of patience with you as well.
