NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - The Justice Department says a 25-year-old Newport News man has been indicted on charges related to a deadly vehicle collision in Kuwait.

The government says Morgan Hanks was arrested Tuesday on charges related to the death of one sailor and the injury of another in November 2009 when Hanks was employed by a U.S. Army contractor as a canine handler.

The indictment alleges Hanks was speeding in a vehicle as it attempted to pass a convoy and collided with another vehicle in which the two sailors were traveling.

Hanks was indicted by a grand jury on two counts unsealed Tuesday. They are involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious injury.

A telephone listing was not available for Hanks in the Newport News area.
