NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Attorneys representing Michael Vick in his federal bankruptcy
case in Virginia say the imprisoned NFL quarterback expects to
return to football.
In a disclosure statement filed before a hearing Thursday in
U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the attorneys wrote that Vick "has every
reason to believe" he will be reinstated by the NFL once he
completes a 23-month sentence for a dogfighting conviction.
While Vick still has a contract with the Atlanta Falcons, NFL
Commissioner Roger Goodell would have the final say on his return.
The attorneys also lay out a plan for Vick to pay his
creditors based on his expected NFL earnings and possible signing
bonuses.
Vick was ordered to be present at two future court hearings.
