CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake police tell WAVY.com a drunk driver drove through the garage door of a home in the 600 block of Denham Arch. The accident occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday, police said.
"I'm still going through a shock to be honest with you, I'm just devastated," James Garcia, the homeowner, told WAVY.com
The Garcia's are relieved that they alright, but surprised and angry they're faced with a big cleanup all because of a man who police say was intoxicated.
The beautiful 5-bedroom house needs significant repairs. At about 2:30 in the morning, while the Garcia's slept, an Acura crashed through their home.
Police say the driver, Christopher Lassiter, was driving intoxicated.
"We worked hard to get a house like this. Needless to say the Lexus," Katie Garcia said.
The suspect's car went across the lawn, and then through the wall of the garage, into the couple's vehicle.
Police said 22-year-old Lassiter of Kill Devil Hills, NC is charged with Driving Under the Influence.
Katie said, "We worked hard for our stuff and to have somebody who obviously knows the info about drinking and driving and they still chose to get in the car."
No one was hurt, but the Garcia's said the hole is causing a pretty big headache.
The couple contacted insurance adjusters to start the repair process.
Christopher Lassiter is out of jail on bond.
