Hampton vaccine clinics rescheduled

HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton Health Department has made several changes to its schedule of upcoming H1N1 flu vaccination clinics.

Due to a limited vaccine supply, several of the clinics have been either canceled or rescheduled.

Below is a list of H1N1 school immunization clinics:

  • Wednesday, November 4, 4-7:30 in the Bethel High School Cafeteria
  • Thursday, November 12, 4-7:30 in the Hampton High School Cafeteria
  • Monday, November 16, 4-7:30 in the Behel High School Cafeteria
  • Thursday, November 19, 4-7:30 in the Hampton High School Cafeteria

A second vaccine dose clinic for those under age 10 will be held December 3, at one of the Hampton High Schools (call the H1N1 vaccine information call center at 311 to find out which school).

Health department officials say the vaccine is given on a walk-in basis. There are no appointments.

Health department clinics are intended for the following and the following only, clinics are not for everyone:

  • Pregnant women
  • Family members and caregivers of children less than 6 months old
  • Individuals up to age 25
  • Individuals between the ages of 25 and 64 who have a serious chronic health problem

School clinics are intended for the following individuals:

  • Children and students (6 months - 18 years of age)
  • Pregnant women
  • Parents and caretakers of children less than 6 months of age

The Hampton Health Department anticipates receiving 1,200 additional doses of the H1N1 vaccine in the coming week.
