SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - When it's cold and gloomy outside, it's easy to sit on the couch and skip your workout. 10 On Your Side found some some fitness fads that may motivate you to get back on track.
Giuseppa Bennett got more than a few funny looks when we asked her to try Kango Jumps at the Suffolk YMCA .
Guiseppa, an avid exerciser, said once she puts them on she can't stay still. She said running in the boots was great for cardio and core workouts.
They are easy on your joints too, but maybe not on your pocketbook--Kango Jumps cost about $250.
A less expensive option is the BOSU Balance Trainer.
"This is great to work on balance. It works on core strength and you can do a cardio class with this," said Trainer Pam Boykin.
The name BOSU means "both sides up," because you can use it on either side. It's also easy on the joints, and costs only $100.
Boykin recommends the BOSU for all fitness levels.
On the other hand, if you want to try the TRX is for more experienced users.
This suspension band trainer was designed by NAVY Seals. We had frequent exerciser Donna Hanson try it. She said her core and chest were burning in minutes.
She liked that it's lightweight, easy to pack up, and costs about $200. Even more importantly she said, "Its different, so it gives you a little bit of a charge to do something different."
Maybe that, will keep you motivated, at least until the next trend comes along.
