NORFOLK, Va - A trip to the zoo, and helpers in Santa hats!  What more could the Norfolk Health Department do to make flu shots fun?

"If you want them for free you just have to fill out a form," said a greeter to people walking inside.

Sixteen-month-old Madison seemed excited, of course she probably didn't understand what was happening, but her Mom and Grandma did. "I don't want her to get sick, don't want her to have it at all," said mom, April.

No parent wants a sick child, but some are more concerned about the shot itself, after a recall of the vaccine.  Virginia received nearly 24,000 doses of the recalled prepackaged vaccine doses.

"We've had only a few inquiries. Three people came and asked about the recalled vaccine," said Dr Demetria Lindsay, Director of the Norfolk Health Department. "We have not given out any vaccine in those lot numbers and the vaccine we're giving out today is not part of the recall," she added.

The recall involved prepackaged syringes for children Madison's age, between 6 months and 3 years.  The manufacturer discovered it was losing its potency and might not provide full protection.

The recall didn't appear to be a deterrent.

245 people in all sat down for a shot or flu mist, then headed out for a free train ride through the zoo.
