Healthcare battle in Isle Of Wight

ISLE OF WIGHT CO. - - There's a healthcare battle brewing in Isle of Wight County.

Two competing companies both want to bring in outpatient surgery centers.  

Sentara Healthcare, based in Norfolk, and Riverside Health System of Newport News want state approval to open facilities in the Benns Church area of the county.  But hospitals executives say the state will only approve one application.

There will be a public hearing on the matter.  The Virginia Department of Health is hosting the meeting.  It will be on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Smithfield Public Library.
