NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a 43-year-old woman was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Newport News Friday morning.
According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department, the woman was struck in the 500 block of Bland Boulevard just after 9 a.m.
Thurston says witnesses claim the woman was struck by a silver, 4-door Honda with three men inside of it when the driver drove the vehicle onto the sidewalk.
Allegedly, one of the occupants briefly exited the car, spoke to the victim, got back inside the car and drove off.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is being treated for what appear to be non-life threatening injuries, police say.
The driver of the car is described as a black man aged between 25 and 30, 5'10" tall weighing 200 pounds with short hair and wearing all dark clothing.
