SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A woman is facing a charge of attempted malicious wounding after police say she stabbed a man during a physical altercation Thursday.

According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Duke Street in reference to a disturbance. Once on scene, they learned the victim and Tranita Giles were involved in a physical altercation.

Klink said the altercation escalated and Giles assaulted the victim with a knife. He suffered a cut on his arm.

Giles also suffered cuts to her fingers as the victim tried to wrestle the knife from her, Klink added. Giles was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding.
