VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Beach police sergeant James Eric Riddick pleaded no contest Friday to a drunken driving charge from February.
Riddick was sentenced to six months, all were suspended. A judge also ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine. In addition he will have to complete 100 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education class.
Riddick, who has been with the department for 16 years, also had his license restricted.
Riddick was stopped on Interstate 264, near Independence Boulevard, near the Independence Boulevard exit on February 7. He remains on administrative duty, pending the outcome of an investigation.
