VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man after several reports of sexual assaults within the same vicinity early Sunday morning.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers received the first call for a sexual assault just before 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Andrew Jackson lane. A victim told police an unknown suspect grabbed her from behind as she walked home.
She was reportedly sexually assaulted near the park and was able to escape to a nearby home to call police.
Minutes later, a second victim reported being attacked in the parking lot of the Brass Bell located in the 1600 block of Independence Boulevard. The victim said she was sitting in her vehicle when the suspect opened the driver’s door and grabbed her.
As he was dragging her across the parking lot, the victim said she attempted to call 911 from her cell phone. The suspect was then spooked by the sounds of police sirens related to the first assault.
Just after 5:10 a.m., a third victim reported being sexually assaulted in the backyard of her home in the 1500 block of Janke Road. The victim told police the suspect fled the area, Moyers said.
According to Moyers, all three locations were a short distance from each other.
Through further investigation, police were able to secure warrants for Roy Ruiz Loredo of Virginia Beach. Loredo was arrested at his home, which is two blocks from the location of the third attack, Moyers said.
At this time, he has been charged with attempted rape and abduction and all three cases remain under investigation. Loredo is being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
