VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A young woman and her father have been charged on several counts by a grand jury for stealing items from a Virginia Beach store over a six month period.
Macie Pridgen with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office says Slavtcho Andonov has been charged on five counts of grand larceny and four counts of conspiracy. His daughter, Elvira Raycheva, was charged with one count of felony possession of stolen property and one count of conspiracy.
According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department, officers were alerted about a large scale theft at the T.J. Maxx located at 2356 Virginia Beach Boulevard on Aug. 27.
A loss prevention investigator for the business said investigators noticed large quantities of various items missing and found suspects removing large trash bags from the store.
The suspects, Andonav, 59, Tinka Andonova, 56, and Raycheva, 23, were employed as a contract cleaning company for T.J. Maxx, Moyers said. Investigators for T.J. Maxx believed the three had stolen from the store over a six month period.
Andonova's case was continued until Dec. 13, according to Pridgen.
Moyers said officers seized about $100,000 worth of stolen property from the trio’s home along Tivoli Crescent in Virginia Beach Wednesday. Officers believe they shipped a large quantity of stolen goods to their home in Bulgaria.
