DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - A couple has been arrested on various charges including drug possession while attempting to break into a vehicle.
According to Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff's Office says police responded to a larceny in progress Sept. 5 at the Cape Point Exxon in Buxton. Hoggard says officers found the suspect, James Edward Ivey, in the parking lot of the PNC Bank matching the suspect's description from the larceny.
Hoggard says an item from Cape Point was recovered from Ivey's possession. In addition, officers found various controlled substances.
Ivey, 44, and Tammy Champion Loughlin, 48, both of Henderson, N.C. were arrested without incident.
Ivey has been charged with larceny, possession of stolen property, breaking and entering of auto, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, three counts of simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana up to .5 ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Loughlin has been charged with breaking and entering of auto, misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of marijuana up to .5 ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both are being held at the Dare County Detention Center under a $4,500 bond each.
