NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police attribute the arrest of a carjacking suspect to a Crime Line caller.

Latavis Dethomas Crocker, 18, of the no hundred block of Colony Square Court in Newport News is charged with robbery, carjacking, abduction, three (3) counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and three (3) counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

The second suspect identified as 19-year-old Erick Lamont Jones, Jr. Jones was later arrested on charges of robbery, abduction, carjacking, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony charges.

According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, a 31-year-old Newport News victim gave two black males a ride in the area of Sharon Drive and Warwick Boulevard. Once inside his car, they allegedly brandished a gun and robbed the victim of his cash .

The two then forced the victim to drive to an ATM at a 7-Eleven located along Warwick Boulevard, Eley said. There, one suspect went into the store with the victim as he took cash from the ATM. The two left the store and then returned later to withdraw more cash.
