NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a Newport News teen wanted for eluding police during an attempted traffic stop in September has been arrested thanks to Crime Line tips.
According to police, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver of a Ford vehicle failed to yield at a red light just before 9 p.m. Sept. 29, turning onto Bland Boulevard from Campbell Drive.
Officials say the officer followed the vehicle and attempted the stop at Bland Boulevard and Chatham Road. At this point, the suspect vehicle sped through a parking lot and two individuals jumped from the car, which then struck a parked vehicle.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Troy Bland, also fled the scene. The officer on scene was able to detain the two passengers.
Bland was arrested Dec. 13 on a Crime Line tip.
