NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The SUV a woman reportedly used to run over her husband after a court hearing Wednesday has been located, but the suspect remains on the lam, according to State Police.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the VSP told WAVY.com the Chevy Envoy was located in the parking lot of a Super Kmart on Victory Boulevard in Yorktown. Lavetta Renee Graham, 40, is accused of using the vehicle in an attempt to run over her husband, Derrick Graham.
The pair were in court regarding an altercation in May, where Lavetta Graham reportedly sprayed her husband with pepper spray and stabbing him.
When the couple left the court hearing Wednesday, Lavetta started driving away with Derrick's SUV, according to Anaya. Derrick attempted to jump on top of the hood of the vehicle to avoid being hit.
He fell off and was taken to a local hospital with serious head injuries.
Anaya said Lavetta Graham is now driving a blue 2005 Dodge van with a Virginia registration of XKT2768. She is possibly heading to Ohio.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office is looking at the case for possible additional charges according to Sgt. Anaya. If you can help State Police find Lavetta call 757-424-6800.
