NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police are asking for help identifying two suspects who used a sledge hammer to destroy a wall during a burglary.

Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said the suspects entered a vacant store front located at 15509 Warwick Boulevard around midnight and used a sledge hammer to break through the cinder block wall into the Papa John’s and a neighboring nail salon.

As they continued breaking through walls, a water line was hit, thwarting the suspects’ plan to get into the pawn shop. The suspects left without taking anything.

Both suspects were covered from head to toe with gloves, hooded sweatshirts and masks. They were both caught on surveillance.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
