NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating two men wanted for carjacking a man who gave them a ride Wednesday.

According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, the 31-year-old Newport News victim gave two black males a ride in the area of Sharon Drive and Warwick Boulevard. Once inside his car, they were said to have brandished a gun and robbed the victim of his cash.

The two then forced the victim to drive to an ATM at a 7-Eleven located along Warwick Boulevard, Eley said. There, one suspect went into the store with the victim as he took cash from the ATM. The two left the store and then returned later to withdraw more cash.

Eley said the victim was able to get away from the pair in the area of Adams Drive and Antrim Drive and called police. The suspects then fled in his black Toyota Avalon, which was located Thursday on Youngs Mill Road.

One suspect has been described as being between the ages of 18 and 21, standing 5’10” and weighing 190 pounds. He has a medium complexion, close cut hair, strong jaw line and was wearing a black jacket with yellow “COOGI” logo on the back. He is the suspect who went into the 7-Eleven with the victim.

The second suspect was reportedly referred to as “Tay.” He was between the ages of 18 and 21 with a light complexion, dreadlocks and a light mustache.

Anyone with information in connection to the carjacking and robbery is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
