Suspect walks out with $35K in jewelry

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Police need the public’s help to identify a woman who used a fraudulent credit card to buy $35,000 worth of jewelry in September.

On Sept. 4, a woman entered Goodman and Sons Jewelers located in the 2000 block of Coliseum Drive around 4 p.m. and selected $35,000 worth of Pandora jewelry for purchase, Cpl. Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division said.

The woman presented a credit card and Arizona driver’s license that contained corresponding information. When the card was declined, the woman called the credit card company listed on the card and let the sales associate at the store speak to a representative.

Shackelford said the representative told the sales associate the purchase could be completed by using a special code. Once the purchase was complete, the woman was last seen walking northbound on Coliseum Drive.

Both the credit card and the driver’s license were later determined to be fraudulent, Shackelford said.
