VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police are hot on the trail of a robbery suspect in Virginia Beach.

On Tuesday, police say a man walked into the Community Bank located in the 600 block of Nevan Road in the Hilltop Square Shopping Center, approached the teller, implied he had a gun and demanded money.

After getting the money the suspect ran toward First Colonial Road.

Witnesses told police the suspect was seen fleeing in a possible getaway vehicle, which was later confirmed to be the suspect's car. Police soon located the vehicle, but the suspect was no where to be found.

Additional witnesses told police a black male, about 6-feet tall, with a medium bill, wearing a tank top and blue jeans and Timberland boots discarded clothing behind a bush in the area. Those items turned out to belong to the suspect as well. Police found the suspect's jacket, cell phone and a wallet containing his ID.

Detectives have obtained and executed a search warrant at the address and recovered additional evidence from the robbery. However, the suspect has yet to be found.

Warrants are on file for Kenneth Columbus Burwell, 48, of the 1700 block of Chase Pointe Circle, Virginia Beach, VA, for robbery and wearing a mask in public.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Burwell are asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Remember, callers remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.

This is one of several dozen robbery cases under investigation in Virginia Beach this year.
