HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton Police have arrested a homicide suspect more than five months after a shooting that took the life of a 52-year-old man.

In September 2012, Hampton Police announced officers were searching for Davon Pierre Brooks, 23, in connection to the shooting death of Sam Edward Small.

According to officers, Brooks shot Small during a dispute between the pair inside Small's home on Sept. 6. Small died from his injuries a week later.

Friday, Cpl. Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division said Brooks was arrested the day before in Petersburg by the Cesterfield Police Department and U.S. Marshals.

Brooks has been charged with homicide, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, aggravated malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is incarcerated in the Hampton City Jail.
