HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - After apprehending a fugitive Wednesday afternoon, Hampton Police are now searching for a man officers say was driving the vehicle he was found in.
Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division said officers apprehended Floyd Lee Taybron, 20, in the 100 block of Glascow Way in Hampton just after noon Wednesday.
A joint task force comprised of officers in both Hampton and Newport News conducted surveillance on known associates of Taybron. As a result of the surveillance, a traffic stop was conducted and Taybron was arrested.
Taybron was wanted along with Tyrek Allen in connection to a shooting on July 21 on West Queen Street. A 20-year-old man was shot in the torso and hand. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Price said Taybron had active warrants for use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, aggravated malicious wounding and shooting from a vehicle.
The alleged driver of the vehicle Taybron was apprehended, Tyrone Demetrius Batten, in is now wanted on charges of driving while suspended, obstruction of justice and reckless driving in connection to Wednesday's traffic stop.
