VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A 26-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting three different women within the same vicinity early Sunday morning has now been charged with a fourth attack in Norfolk.
A judge granted Roy Ruiz Loredo of Virginia Beach bond during a hearing Thursday morning after Loredo's wife testified on his behalf. Loredo remains in jail for now. A bond appeal is scheduled for Tuesday and even if Loredo bonds out, he'll land in Norfolk Jail for charges he's now facing there.
WAVY.com crews inside the courtroom report Loredo's wife said she was in the Navy and admitted Loredo had an abuse problem with marijuana and alcohol.
Thursday afternoon, Norfolk Police announced they charged Loredo in connection to a fourth attack that occurred in their jurisdiction on April 26. Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department said Loredo was accused of attacking a woman in her apartment at knife point.
Amos said Loredo will remain in the Virginia Beach City Jail while the Commonwealth's Attorney in Norfolk and Virginia Beach work out what the timeline will be for Loredo's charges in both cities.
Amos said Loredo is not a suspect in any other Norfolk cases.
WAVY.com spoke exclusively with a Norfolk woman who claimed she was raped by Loredo in late April . Norfolk Police confirmed Loredo's most recent arrest is connected to her case.
Police received the first call for a sexual assault just before 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Andrew Jackson lane, Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said. Minutes later, a second victim reported being attacked in the parking lot of the Brass Bell located in the 1600 block of Independence Boulevard.
Just after 5:10 a.m., a third victim reported being sexually assaulted in the backyard of her home in the 1500 block of Janke Road.
According to Moyers, all three Virginia Beach locations were a short distance from each other.
Virginia Beach Police have charged Loredo with one count of abduction and one count of attempted rape in connection to one of the crimes. Charges have not been filed for the other two attacks at this time.
Norfolk Police have charged Loredo with one count of forcible sodomy, one count of attempted forcible sodomy, one count of abduction with the intent to defile and once count of breaking and entering with the intent to rape.
WAVY.com is working to learn more about all four attacks.
