VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a possible towing scam has been reported in Virginia Beach and are asking anyone with information on it to contact them.
According to Sgt. Margie Hobbs with the Virginia Beach Police Department Economic Crimes Unit, a woman was legally parked outside the Village Inn restaurant. She said she found a note on her car, saying that she should not move it because a towing company was on its way to retrieve the vehicle
Police say Village Inn did not request the car be towed and they say the scam may be an attempt to obtain money from drivers.
If you have information on the scam, contact the Economic Crime Unit at 757-385-4101.
