YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Deputies say a suspect responsible for robbing a York County AutoZone store Monday evening could be a serial robber wanted in two Peninsula cities.
According to Lt. Dennis Ivey with the York County Sheriff's Office, a man donning a fake beard and a colored fishing hat robbed the AutoZone auto store in the 2800 block of Hampton Highway shortly before 9 p.m. Sept. 24. Ivey says the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and left the scene riding a bicycle.
Ivey says deputies are looking into the possibility of this suspect being the same man wanted by police in Hampton and Newport News for robbing at about two dozen businesses including dollar stores, fast food restaurants and auto parts stores since Nov. 6, 2011.
