VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have charged a man in connection to a domestic incident Saturday evening.

Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Westgrove Road around 5 p.m. for a report of a domestic situation. The suspect, identified as Joshua David Burke, 31, is accused of assaulting a family member and then locked himself inside the home.

Burke would not answer the phone and no one else was in the house aside from the family dog, Moyers said. He was taken into custody just after 9 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and abduction.
