VBPD: Beach homicide suspect in custody

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police say a man wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide last month has been taken into police custody.

Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department says James Jerome Brooks, 32, was wanted for questioning regarding the shooting death of Laurie Ann Escobar. Escobar was killed inside a home in the 700 block of 16th Street Aug. 21.

Brooks was also wanted on outstanding warrants of malicious wounding, abduction and use of a firearm, not connected to the homicide.
