According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department, 21-year-old Artecia Shalese Jaynay Nichols was involved in a domestic situation with a man in the 300 block of Hickory Point Lane.

The victim, a 25-year-old Newport News man, told police the argument turned violent when Nichols struck him several times with a small saucepan. He suffered from minor injuries.

When officers arrived, Thurston said Nichols resisted arrest and kicked one officer several times.
