JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Police say two suspects are wanted for allegedly using "cloned" debit card to purchase shoes, jeans and cigarettes.
According to Stephen Rubio with the James City County Police Department, the suspects used the debit card between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 3.
Rubio said the suspects used the card twice at Timbaland and once at True Religion Jeans in the Premium Outlets. The suspects also used the card at a Food Lion in the Ewell Station Shopping Center.
Credit and debit card "cloning" is a form of identity theft; suspects re-code gift cards or hotel cards with magnetic strips to register as debit or credit cards when used.
At the time of the crime, one suspect was wearing a dark blue track suit with white highlights and was described as heavy-set and had facial hair. He was seen using the card by surveillance at Timbaland and Food Lion.
The second suspect, wearing a black pullover and blue jeans, is described as having a slim or medium build. He was wearing a large gold-colored cross on a chain.
