PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say two men driving separate vehicles were shot at an intersection in Portsmouth Wednesday afternoon.
According to Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department, police were dispatched to a shots fired incident in the area of Georgia Court and Peachtree Lane at 5:15 p.m. There, they found a 25-year-old man shot in the leg. He was transported to Maryview Hospital.
Within minutes, officers were diverted to another shots fired incident close by at the intersection of Twin Pines Road and Towne Point Road close to a Gettymart convenience store. There, they found a 29-year-old man shot in the upper body and was transported to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital.
Clark says further investigation revealed the two men got into a dispute while stopped at the intersection of Georgia Court and Peachtree Lane. One victim stayed on the scene while the other walked to Gettymart.
Clark says the motive for the shooting is unknown, as is the reason for the dispute. She says it is still undetermined who fired the handguns but a firearm was found at the home of one of the men.
