Pair uses counterfeit cash to buy Visa cards

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) -  

Deputies in York County are searching for two females who used more than $1,000 in counterfeit cash at a grocery store.

Lt. Dennis Ivey with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said two females entered the Food Lion located on Hampton Highway on Jan. 24 around 5 p.m.

There, they used $1,514.85 in counterfeit currency to buy prepaid Visa cards.

The suspects were captured on the store’s surveillance system and are described as black females possibly in their 20s. One was wearing sweatpants, Converse-style shoes and a jacket at the time of the incident. She had long, blonde hair.

The second suspect was wearing jeans, boots, a purple shirt and a jean jacket. Ivey said the pair was seen in the company of a black male between the ages of 18 and 25.
