NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Markell Wilkins, an Old Dominion University football player, faced a judge Wednesday and was granted a $20,000 bond.
Wilkins faces two counts of conspiracy to commit rape. His co-defendants are fellow ODU football player Reid Evans and ODU student Jack Ly, who are also out of jail on bond.
Prosecutors said a video shows multiple men entering the dorm room where the alleged incident occurred on June 17.
Wilkins' attorney, George Neskins, says his client did have sex with one woman, but says it was consensual.
"Markell and his family trust and respect the judicial process and we look forward to vigorously defending it," Neskins said.
ODU says both Evans and Wilkins have been suspended from the football team indefinitely.
