ASHLAND, Ohio (WAVY) - The young daughter of Lynn Jackenheimer spoke out for the first time Thursday, condemning Nate Summerfield for allegedly killing her mother.
"He murdered my mother, and I don't like it, and I don't know what to do about it," 13-year-old Ciara Sheppard said.
WAVY.com obtained the search warrant for Nate Summerfield's motel room in Medina, Ohio, where he was apprehended and arrested Aug. 15.
Summerfield is expected to waive extradition during a hearing Friday and return to North Carolina to stand trial for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend with whom he shared a son.
"We will bring him back as quickly as physically possible," said Dare County Sheriff's Office Deputy Steve Hoggard.
It is possible that Dare County will seek the death penalty against Summerfield who will be prosecuted by Asistant District Attorney Nancy Lamb.
"The allegations are that subsequent to the murder of Ms. Jackenheimer, her body was packaged and dumped in a vacant lot to lie in the hot sun for days and days until when, or if, someone came along and discovered it," Lamb said.
A first-degree murder conviction could mean life in prison without parole for Summerfield. A trial could take place in 2013, but if prosecutors seek the death penalty, preparation for the case could take longer.
