Shooting suspect turns self in

Family saw he was wanted

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The Newport News Police Department has arrested a man wanted for a shooting earlier in the month.

Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said officers were searching for Rakeen Dejonte Northcutt. Northcutt is accused of shooting a man in an apartment.

The victim was able to positively identify Northcutt as the shooter after the victim was treated and released.

Eley said Thursday Northcutt's family members notified him he was wanted. He turned himself in around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Northcutt was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is 5’10” and weighs 113 pounds.
