NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 20-year-old woman is behind bars after officers say she was involved in a home invasion in Newport News Sunday evening.
Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Pavilion Drive around 5 p.m. for a report of a home invasion. The victim told police a male suspect armed with a gun pushed his way inside as the victim was letting a female acquaintance in his home.
Once inside, the suspect forced the victim to lie on the floor in a back bedroom. The victim reported to police he heard the suspects move through the home prior to them leaving.
The victim said he noticed several items were missing from the home once the suspects were gone.
According to Thurston, an investigation revealed one of the suspects as Kenesha Renee Smith of Hampton. She was arrested at her home without incident.
Smith has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of robbery and two counts of abduction. Thurston said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
