NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 42-year-old man is facing several charges after officers found drugs and other items when he was the victim of a shooting on Dec. 10.

According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 12th Street shortly before 9 p.m. for a report of a shooting. There, they discovered 42-year-old Leslie Hudson suffering from gunshot wounds. Three children ages 2, 8 and 17 were in the home at the time of the shooting.

During the course of the investigation, officers found a quantity of marijuana, cocaine, digital scale and a weapon with the serial number removed or unreadable. Eley said all belonged to Hudson.

Hudson has since been arrested and charged with three counts of child abuse or neglect causing serious injury, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of schedule I or II drugs.
